Warts are benign growths that appear on your skin. Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and are contagious. Warts can come in many shapes and sizes so it is important to receive a proper diagnosis by a dermatologic professional before attempting self-treatments and over the counter serums.
There are multiple forms of treatments to deal with stubborn warts although many warts will often go away on their own. It is common for warts to require multiple sessions of treatments spaced out over many months. Treatments can include: cryotherapy, electrosurgery, cantharidin, and excisions.
What can I expect from my appointment?
Dependent on the size and location of the wart, your Thomas Dermatology provider will choose to use one of the previous treatments in order to remove the wart.
